IMPORTANT NEWS: MPTF in Action
Established in 1948 through a landmark collective bargaining agreement between the American Federation of Musicians and major recording companies, the Musicians’ Performance Trust Fund annually presents thousands of admission-free musical events to the community.
Usually requiring a 50 percent matching contribution from a sponsor, during the pandemic, MPTF has funded, at 100 percent, live stream musical performances paid at full scale, including doubling, cartage, and rehearsal.
MAH has assisted many of our musicians to take advantage of this opportunity, not only to work, but to keep engaged with the musical community and share our passion for music.
Contact the MAH office if you would like to apply for an MPTF performance.
Note that the 100 percent funding program ends July 31, 2021. After that date, 50 percent co-sponsorship will once again be required.
So far, MAH and MPTF have successfully sponsored the following live stream concerts:
- A Hawaiian Music Legacy Concert: George Kuo, Alan Akaka, Greg Sardinha, Aaron Mahi
- The Mana Music Quartet: Josh Nakazawa, Mann-Wen Lo, Eric Silberger, Duane Padilla
- Dan Del Negro: A Solo Jazz Piano Concert
- The Mike Lewis Sextet: Mike Lewis, Joie Sasha Taylor, Noel Okimoto, Dean Taba, Ethan Capone, Starr Kalahikik
- Jeanine Markley: A Solo Concert on Violin and Viola
- The Ko’olau Music Festival at Castle High School: Allen Won, Tommy James, Dean Taba, Noel Okimoto, Robert Shinoda, and talented Castle High School student vocalists.
Pending applications include Cash Back, featuring TJ Ricer, Sara Ricer, Allan Ward, and Paul Nelson.
