At this time, all studios are still closed as member and tenant safety remains our top priority. Those on our Reopening Committee are currently researching the effectiveness of installing a UVC light/ionization disinfecting system into each of our air handlers. This, of course, would not be a panacea, and social distancing, personal disinfecting, time buffers between room usage, and masks would still be necessary.
As a test run, we will be hosting a live-streamed event, “Masters of Hawaiian Music,” in Studio 909 on October 31st (without an in-person audience), as part of the Musicians Performance Trust Fund initiative (MPTF). After which, we hope to be able to present more info to you on reopening plans.
If you have further questions on the status of the reopening of studios or would like to offer up any new info/studies you come across in relation to musical instruments and COVID-19, please feel free to email: members@musicianshawaii.com
