Aloha everyone,I can’t believe it but this month marks 1 year since we started the Studio 909 Jam Session! Thank you to all the musicians, parents, and patrons who have supported this past year. I hope you can all come and celebrate! This month’s jam is scheduled for MONDAY, April 20, from 6:00-9:00pm.The opening trio will feature guitarist Doug MacDonald and bassist Shawn Conley. Doug is a former Hawaii resident currently based in Los Angeles and will be in town to perform at Benny Rietveld’s concert later that weekend. You can click HERE for more info on that. And as always, I’m thrilled to have Shawn back in town after a month-long tour with the Silk Road Ensemble. You don’t wanna miss this trio.We ran out of time last month so I’d like to get to doing Tenor Madness. Now that we’re a year into it, I also like to encourage you to call out tunes from the list below or if it’s not on the list, bring in copies of the tunes you’d like to play. It’s important to revisit and improve on them each time.Studio 909 Jam Session is working together with Live Music Awareness, a local non-profit organization whose mission is promoting music education and to help professional musicians present their work and projects to the public. To those who have already made contributions to LMA in support of the jam session (you know who you are), thank you very much!! If you are interested in sponsoring or making a donation, you can reply to me in this email or come talk to me at the jam.Previous Jam Tunes – YouTube PlaylistAutumn LeavesLittle SunflowerOn Green Dolphin St.One For Daddy-OSong For My FatherSt. ThomasTake The A TrainWatermelon ManDoxyBillie’s Bounce
